The work is carried out under Gas Safe registration 981690 with the ACS Commercial qualification behind it. Two types of client use us. Larger mechanical and M&E contractors who need a Gas Safe commercial engineer on their packages, and site owners or facilities managers who want the gas side handled directly without a main contractor's margin on top. Commercial gas is a documentation job as much as an engineering one. Pipework sizing, purge volumes, test durations, ventilation and interlocks all have to be right and recorded, and we issue RAMS for commercial jobs so site inductions and permits are not held up. Because breakdowns on commercial heating stop trade or stop production, our phone is answered around the clock. Left alone, it gets worse ## The cost of getting commercial gas wrong On commercial premises the exposure is not just the appliance. In detail ## Commercial and industrial gas in detail The systems below are the ones we are most often brought in for, along with the methods and variations that matter when pricing and delivering the work. ### Commercial gas pipework Installation and alteration of steel and copper distribution pipework from meter and governor position through to appliance connections, sized on gas rate, run length and permitted pressure drop. Correct supports, sleeving, identification, protection against mechanical damage and corrosion, and isolation valves at appliances. Alterations on live sites are the common case: adding plant, decommissioning redundant legs properly, and re-testing the altered installation rather than assuming the old certificate still applies. ### Testing and purging Strength testing and tightness testing to the non-domestic procedures, with test durations and pressures appropriate to installation volume, and purging of both new pipework and pipework returned to service. Purge volumes and vent positions are calculated, not eyeballed. Records are issued so the site has evidence of what was tested, at what pressure and for how long. ### Direct and indirect fired air heating Direct fired units, where combustion products enter the heated air stream and ventilation rates are critical, and indirect fired warm air units with a heat exchanger and flue. Installation, servicing, fault-finding and burner work on both, including flue routes, ductwork connections and controls. These units heat warehouses and workshops, so a failure in November is a production problem. Planned servicing before the heating season is the cheapest way to avoid it. ### Plaque and tube radiant heaters Ceramic plaque heaters and radiant tube systems suspended over working areas, heating people and surfaces rather than the air volume. We install, service and repair both, covering burner and ignition assemblies, tube and reflector condition, suspension, flueing and ventilation requirements. Correct height, angle and coverage make the difference between an effective radiant scheme and one that leaves half the floor cold. ### Non-domestic boilers and plant rooms Commercial boilers, cascade arrangements, pumps, headers, pressurisation units and associated controls. Servicing, breakdown repair, replacement and commissioning, with plant room ventilation, gas detection and interlocks checked as part of the work. ### Catering and kitchen gas Commercial catering appliance connections, kitchen gas isolation, and ventilation interlock systems. Kitchens fail inspections on interlocks and ventilation more often than on the appliances themselves, so that is where we start. ### Residential and landlord work Domestic work uses domestic testing procedures, single-appliance gas rates and household access, usually one visit, one engineer. ### Commercial and industrial work Non-domestic work brings larger volumes and pressures, calculated purge procedures, RAMS, permits, site inductions, planned access windows and account billing.
